St. Louis Cardinals -107 over Milwaukee Brewers
This week, we focus on the rivalry featuring the top two teams in the NL Central. The Brewers have run away with the division and have a 9.5 game lead. Meanwhile the Cardinals have not been mathematically eliminated, but their season is all but over.
Both teams will send out quality starters with Zack Greinke (14-5, 4.00 ERA) taking on Chris Carpenter (8-9, 3.92 ERA). Greinke has won 7 of his last 8 starts, while Carpenter is coming off two rough outings against the Reds and Pirates (6 earned runs in each).
The Cardinals actually opened as -122 favorites at Pinnacle, and Sports Insights’ MLB Betting Trends are showing that only 25% of moneyline wagers and 32% of spread wagers are taking the home favorites. This has caused the line to drop to -107 despite Sports Insights tracking a Steam Move at Pinnacle (328-295, +23.94 units won) on the Cards.
While we normally are taking underdogs, the contrarian play today is actually taking a small favorite. Let’s bet against the public, follow the steam, and get back into the win column.
