Sports Marketwatch – NFL Week 17
Recapping Last Week
NFL Week 16 went the way of the sportsbooks. The shops we spoke with all reported winning between 1-2% of their handle. Houston’s surprising win over Indy broke up a lot of Teaser and Parlay action. Detroit and Seattle covering helped keep the sportsbooks above water for the first time in two weeks.
SportsInsights.com analysis shows that in games with over 65% of the action on one side, the Public posted another losing winning weekend, going 4-7. Over the last 14 weeks, the Public has posted a dismal 40-70-1 record. It’s good The Public doesn’t bet for a living! SportsInsights.com Games to Watch analysis stumbles on its “march to the bank,” getting blanked, going 0-2-1. Overall, that makes the Games to Watch column 29-18-1 = 61.7%.

Looking Ahead to this Week
This time of year is tough for the oddsmakers, as teams that can’t improve their playoff position look to sit starters. In addition, there are some horrible and meaningless match ups. We anticipate Indy, St Louis, and Seattle to be the most “lopsided-bet” games of the week. Look for handle sizes to pick up as the Public gears up for the coming playoffs. NFL Week 17 Sports Marketwatch – Games to Watch
Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys
This has been an Underdog season so we’re sticking with what works. Detroit looked a lot better last week and almost beat Chicago outright. Detroit still has plenty of fight left in them. They’ll give an imploding Dallas all they can handle.
Detroit Lions +13
Arizona Cardinals vs San Diego Chargers
Arizona showed some spark last week beating a good San Fran team. They finally have all the pieces together and are firing on “all cylinders.” Unfortunately, it’s the last week of the season. San Diego is playing for possible home field advantage throughout the playoffs BUT Baltimore must lose to Buffalo…which we don’t believe will happen. BAL/BUF is a 1 pm game, while ARI/SDG is a 4pm. With little to play for, SDG will rest their star players for most of the game. Arizona has a lot to play for. They will try to prove to the league they are a solid squad that will be a playoff contender next season.
Arizona Cardinals +13.5
So, here’s a wrap-up of SportsInsights.com analysis for this week’s Games to Watch.
Games to Watch (29-18-1)
