College Football Week 5 Marketwatch
Every Friday we break down what to look for heading into the College Football weekend. This Friday night even brings us four games including a Top-25 matchup (USC at Washington State). Below we’ve highlighted what bettors should know about for some key games, and you can keep up with all the latest odds, betting trends, injuries and more at our Free Live Odds page.
4-0 ATS Teams: The odds have moved against each of the 4-0 ATS teams this week (Duke, SMU, NMSU). We’ve also seen very different betting patterns on each of the perfect ATS teams.
High Total: Bettors aren’t shying away from the high total between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, opening at 80 and moving up to 85.5.
Baylor Bad? After closing with just 11% of spread bets last week, Baylor is getting 58% as a dog at Kansas State. However, the Bears have moved from +14 to +17, so it appears sharps are fading Baylor on the road this weekend.
Most Bet Games (Highest Ticket Counts): UGA at Tennessee, Clemson at Virginia Tech, Cal at Oregon
Clemson at Virginia Tech: Clemson is up to -7 around the market now despite less than half of spread tickets. The Tigers also have the second-best National Championship odds behind only Alabama, so we could see a third straight title matchup between the Tigers and Crimson Tide.
UGA at Tennessee: Bettors don’t feel great about the Vols after they barely beat UMass at home last weekend. Tennessee has moved from +6.5 to +7.5 and getting just 28% of spread bets. This is the most bet game of the day so public bettors will be loading up on UGA– possibly a good spot to go contrarian and take the Vols. Butch Jones’ job could be on the line with a loss.
Cal at Oregon: Bettors like the road dog in this matchup, with 61% of tickets taking the Golden Bears. Oregon had moved from -15 to -13.5 but the line is back up to -15. We’ve also triggered five profitable bet signals on the UNDER in this matchup.
Bonus game
UConn at SMU
Vanderbilt at Florida: Tons of love on the road underdog here too, getting nearly 70% of spread bets. This is surprising considering Vandy lost 59-0 to Alabama last weekend while Florida has hung on to beat Tennessee and Kentucky in consecutive weeks. The Gators opened -9.5 and have moved down to -9, but may be a nice contrarian home favorite to take.
Highest Totals: TTU/OK St 85.5, SMU/UConn 76.5, ECU/USF 76
Lowest Totals: Vandy/Florida 41, Buffalo/Kent 42, Minnesota/Maryland 43.5
Biggest Underdog: Rutgers +28.5 vs. Ohio St
Most Lopsided Spread Tickets: 79% on UNLV, 79% on SMU
MTSU WR Richie James is questionable at FAU. Bettors can keep up with all the latest injuries for every player here.
