Clayton Kershaw Favored for the 166th Straight Start
It’s been over 5 years since Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers closed as underdogs in a game. The last time it happened was July 24, 2012 in a 8-2 loss at the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Dodgers closed +127 in that game. Friday night’s game will mark the 166th straight Kershaw start that the Dodgers have been favored in.
LA opened -250 for Game 1 against Arizona and has moved up to -270 this morning. In Kershaw’s career as a favorite, LA has gone 181-90 straight up for +12.6 units on the moneyline. In the playoffs, LA has gone just 7-7 in all of Kershaw’s starts (1-0 as an underdog in 2009).
At the time of publication, LA was receiving 66% of moneyline bets for Game 1 which isn’t very lopsided for such a large favorite. It does look like sharp money likes the Under though– the total has dropped from 7.5 to 7 since opening, and 75% of the money wagered has come in on the Under.
We’re also projecting the Dodgers line to move up to -280 around the market. You can keep up with all the latest line moves, betting percentages, breaking injuries and more at our Free Live Odds page.
