Updated National Title Odds: Alabama Now an Even Money Favorite

While the rest of the college football world continues to beat itself up, the Tide just keep on rolling. Following Clemson’s loss to Syracuse, which sent the Tigers from +300 to +1000, Alabama has reached even money for the first time this season. Last year Alabama did not reach +100 until Week 11.

Here are the rest of the odds after a wild Week 7.

Oklahoma is somewhat back in the mix, coming in at +1600. They’re another example of a team whose odds might’ve been the result of an overreaction last week, when they fell from +700 to +2500 after losing to Iowa State.

If you’re looking for a team in a potential overreaction spot this week, Washington is down to +3300 after an upset loss to Arizona State. I’d argue there’s some value on the Huskies at that price. It’s not unrealistic to think that they can win out, which would put them in the playoff for the second straight year. Of course, it’s never safe to assume in college football, but if Washington can take care of business at home the next couple weeks, I’d be surprised if they weren’t right back in the mix.

We’re also now just two weeks away from the Penn State-Ohio State matchup. If they’re both still undefeated, we should see a big jump in the winner’s national title hopes. You might be better off taking one, or both, of those teams before they meet.
