Tom Brady, what a guy. The man will end up retiring in 2030 with 10 rings, 7 Super Bowl MVPs, and probably around 5 regular season MVPs. Aww, Carson Wentz. You beat the Cowboys by 28 on the road? That’s cute.

Poor Carson. Can’t even hold onto the top spot for NFL MVP odds for more than a couple weeks before getting dethroned by the goat. My good friend Tom actually called me last week, said he read my MVP article, wished me luck, and also said he would be the favorite come next week. By golly, the man was right.

Jared Goff’s run as a top-3 MVP candidate came and went quicker than Nathan Peterman’s career. Though Goff didn’t have a terrible game in Minnesota, he didn’t do enough to keep up with the big boys. His Rams still have a good chance in the NFC West due to Seattle’s loss and slew of injuries. He’ll need team success to help boost his MVP resume.

Don’t sleep on old man Brees, though. The Saints continue to…stroll…but have had trouble distancing themselves from the NFC South pack. Every team in the division has won at least two straight games, while the Saints’ 8 game streak is tied with Philly for the best in the NFL. Brees’ numbers are actually a bit down for his standards, but he’s never had such help in the backfield. Speaking of Saints’ running backs…

OROY

The Offensive Rookie of the Year odds continue to bounce around without DeShaun Watson in the mix. One would have imagined that Kareem Hunt would have a stranglehold on this one after Watson went down, but he hasn’t scored a touchdown in seven straight games and hasn’t rushed for 100 yards in five straight. He’s now third on the list, even behind Leonard Fournette.

Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara is closing in on 1,000 total yards and just scored his fifth touchdown in the past four weeks. The dual threat is making life easy for Brees and helping the Saints be a true super bowl contender for the first time in a while.
