Significant Sharp Action in Tonight’s Most Heavily Bet College Basketball Game
This past weekend, old Dan McGuire, noted witch from Salem, wrote about how Vanderbilt was on a terrible streak against the spread, as they had started the season 0-8 ATS. Well, Dan pulled a rabbit out of his hat a la Harry Potter and helped the Commodores get off the schneid with their first cover of the season, losing by seven points to Florida as a 9.5-point pooch.
Tonight, Vandy plays host to Alabama in what is currently the most heavily bet game on the 27-game slate. Given their lowly ATS ways this season, just 29% of bettors are taking them, but there has been some huge reverse line movement, thanks to a large disparity of dollars and several bet signals. Reverse line movement is an indicator that sharp/professional money has taken a side in a game.
Around 10 AM eastern, a steam move triggered by Pinnacle started to shift the line towards Vanderbilt in significant fashion. After opening at +1, Vandy has moved all the way to -3. Alabama isn’t exactly a basketball powerhouse, but they have gone 9-4 straight up this season, including an impressive 22-point win over #11 Texas A&M this past week. They’re 5-6-1 against the spread this season.
Will the Commies get on a little ATS roll or has the line already moved too much?

01/02/2018 at 6:34 pmIt looks like the #1 Guard Riley Norris is out for tonight. For the season, his FG% is 43% and his 3P% is 30%. I would say Vandy is now getting the points simply because of the absence of Norris, and playing on their home court.
