NBA Playoffs Underdogs
04/20/2011
In NBA
In case you didn’t notice, many of the “larger” underdogs (about 6 points or more) have been covering during this year’s NBA playoff season.
- Last night, the Knicks covered the spread vs. the Celtics (as they did in Game One). The Knicks are down two games to none — but covered both losses in Boston. In Game Two, the Knicks were 7 pt dogs, after being 6 pt dogs in Game One.
- Last night, the Hawks also won ATS — in a losing cause — versus the Orlando Magic. They lost by 6 points but were getting 9 points.
- On Saturday, the Opening Day of this year’s NBA playoffs, both double-digit dogs covered.
Most of these underdogs have been “bet against the Public” plays, with the big dogs often receiving about 30% (or lower!) of the bets. The point spread is a powerful “equalizer” and SportsInsights’ betting percentages and profitable betting strategies can be powerful allies for serious sports investors.
