2014 NFL Draft: Johnny Manziel Draft Position Prop Bet
The first round of the 2014 NFL Draft will get underway on Thursday, May 8th at the Radio City Music Hall and all eyes will be on former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. The winner of the 2012 Heisman Trophy Award, “Johnny Football” electrified the nation with both his arm and legs over the past two seasons. But will his unique skill set translate on the next level?
Due to his small stature (listed at 6’0″, 210 lbs), many scouts are torn on Manziel. Some feel that he is an electrifying playmaker who will continue the recent success of short quarterbacks such as New Orleans’ Drew Brees and Seattle’s Russell Wilson. Others believe he is a significant injury risk who will struggle to overcome inconsistent mechanics. Because of these wildly differing opinions, there doesn’t appear to be any consensus regarding where Manziel will be drafted.
It is worth noting that Manziel’s draft stock seems to be trending downwards. Nearly two months ago, we tweeted the odds of Manziel being selected with the first overall pick (+200). Although the prop was available at a different sportsbook, Manziel has dropped to +400 to be selected first overall, with South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney looking like clear front runner.

In his most recent mock draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Manziel being selected 4th overall by the Cleveland Browns, which actually falls in line with oddsmakers predictions. However, CBS analyst Pete Prisco has the Buccaneers drafting Manziel with the 7th overall pick while his co-worker Pat Kirwin has Manziel going 3rd overall to the Jaguars.
