2015 College Football: Week 5 Betting Recap
Biggest moneyline upsets:
Arizona State +421 at UCLA
Cincinnati +250 vs. Miami FL
Florida +227 vs. Ole Miss
-Aside from Arizona State winning at UCLA, there were no real shockers this week despite underdogs performing well. Underdogs went 32-27 ATS while road teams went 33-25 ATS.
-Once again, the highest total of the week (Baylor-Texas Tech 88) went over, while the lowest total of the week (BC-Duke 38) went under.
-The closing total of 88 for Baylor-Texas Tech was tied for the highest ever (Baylor-Okla St in 2012). The last six meetings between Baylor and Texas Tech have now soared over the total.
-NCAAF Overs had gone 17-4 this year when the total closed 70+ points, but just 1-4 this week.
-Unders went an astounding 46-13 this past week. Overs had performed better so far this year as they were 148-137 heading into the week, so this week will definitely skew the season tally.
-The total for Air Force-Navy dropped 6 points from open to close, and with good reason. The Under is now 23-7 when service academies meet each other since 2005 (via our Bet Labs database.)
-In the premiere matchup of the week, Alabama (+1) closed as an underdog for the first time in 72 games (you’ve probably heard that plenty by now) and demolished Georgia 38-10 in Athens. It was the first time since the 2009 SEC title game that they closed as underdogs, and it may be a while until sportsbooks feel safe doing that again.
-Notre Dame/Clemson was the second most-bet game of the week behind Bama/UGA, and it definitely mattered which line you got. The line shifted all week from Clemson -3 to Clemson +3, and Clemson ended up winning by 2 despite a late comeback by the Irish.
-Alabama and Clemson were impressive in victories this weekend and propelled them into the Top-10. Florida and Northwestern also rose significantly after big home wins.
-Friday night began the weekend with a very late cover from BYU:

Heisman Watch:
LSU RB Leonard Fournette: He’s been the man to beat for weeks now and put up 233 yards and 3 TDs against Eastern Michigan. Sportsbooks have begun posting “Fournette vs. the Field” options now with the field a slight favorite.
Major Injuries/Suspensions:
FSU RB Dalvin Cook: He left the game vs. Wake Forest and is questionable this week against the rival Hurricanes.
Mizzou QB Maty Mauk: He was suspended for the South Carolina game but the Tigers didn’t need him. He may play this week but it’s unclear at this time.
There are also a number of other questionable key players for next week so keep up with all the latest statuses at our Free Injuries Page.
