Super Bowl 50 MVP Odds
On Sunday, February 7th at 6:30 PM, the NFC champion Carolina Panthers will play the AFC champion Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. The Panthers, who are currently receiving 81% of spread bets and 61% of moneyline bets, are listed as 4.5-point favorites at the market-setting Pinnacle sportbook.
It’s tough to debate that the biggest reason for the Panthers success this season has been the play of Cam Newton. The former number one overall draft pick threw for 3,837 yards during the regular season with 35 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. The dynamic quarterback also added 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Newton is viewed as the clear-cut favorite to win the Most Valuable Player award for the regular season, so it’s not surprising to see that oddsmakers have also installed him as the favorite to be named the Super Bowl 50 MVP.

At 5Dimes, the odds of Newton winning the MVP Award are actually better than the odds of every other player combined. For what it’s worth, quarterbacks have earned this honor 55% of the time (27 out of 49) and the winner has only come from the losing team once (Cowboys LB Chuck Howley in Super Bowl V). It’s also worth pointing out that quarterbacks have won the award in five of the last six years.
Although 5Dimes is only offering odds for Cam Newton versus the field, several book have both posted odds for more than a dozen players. Offshore Newton’s MVP odds range from -120 to -175 which once again highlights the importance of shopping for the best line and having access to multiple books.
