2017 NBA Draft Position Over/Unders

2017 NBA Draft Position Over/Unders

The 2017 NBA draft commences on Thursday, June 22nd as teams search for the best young talent from the college ranks and international pool. Although fans from across the country will be scouring the internet looking for mock draft predictions for their favorite team, there is a large segment of the population who believe that these mock drafts are typically inaccurate and offer limited insight.

The Boston Celtics initially landed the first overall pick courtesy of their now infamous trade with the Brooklyn Nets which sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to Brooklyn in exchange for salary filler and four future draft picks. However, the Celtics have agreed to send the top overall pick to Philadelphia in exchange for the third overall pick and a future first-rounder. The 76ers are widely expected to take Markelle Fultz with the top pick.

The former Washington star is listed at -8000 to be selected with the first overall pick at BetOnline, while fellow Pac-12 guard Lonzo Ball’s odds of being selected by the Lakers moved from -280 to -1250 following the D’Angelo Russell trade. Many anticipate that the Celtics will select Josh Jackson with the third overall pick, but there aren’t and props on his draft position.

There’s been some debate about whether Jackson is in play for the Lakers, but oddsmakers aren’t sold on this possibility. At the time of publication, the most likely exact draft outcome has Fultz going first, Ball going second and Jackson going third. That exact order would pay out at -185.

On Friday, June 16, BetOnline posted several prop bets for the upcoming NBA draft including draft position over/unders for over a dozen prospects. Based on these props, we were able to create our own mock draft for the 14 lottery picks. Between public money and recent trades, the odds on several props have changed — most notably Duke forward Jayson Tatum who could be an option for the Celtics with the third overall pick.

There should be more prop bets added over the next week which will help more accurately project the first round of the NBA Draft, so be sure to check back before next Thursday.
