Will the Indians Ever Lose Again?
Yes they will, but when? The Indians are currently on a 21-game win streak and the odds of them running the rest of the regular season table are 25/1, while the odds of Cleveland losing a game before the playoffs is 1/80. Cleveland would have to win their next 16 games to get to a 38-game winning streak, which is unfathomable in modern baseball. It’s fun to see a prop bet available, but +2500 odds are pretty bad considering you could roll over the moneyline for a better payout (which is almost always the case for these “undefeated” props).
BetOnline has also offered a prop bet on the length of the win streak at 23.5 games. You can bet ‘Over’ at +130 odds, meaning they’d have to win at least 3 more games in a row. You can also bet ‘Under’ at -160 odds, meaning they would need to lose Thursday, Friday, or Saturday to cash the bet.
For Thursday night, Cleveland opened -235 but has actually moved down to -200. The Indians are also only getting 64% of moneyline tickets, which isn’t too lopsided considering they haven’t lost in 3+ weeks. Usually the public likes to bet home favorites that are playing well, but in this case we’re seeing bettors take KC in hopes of breaking the Indians win streak. We’ve even seen lopsided tickets on KC at sharp book Bookmaker:
This is pretty rare to see, and we’ve also tracked about 80% of early money on the Royals, meaning that the bigger and sharper money is on KC to bring the line down. Thursday night could be the night it ends for Cleveland– are you willing to bet the Royals +190?
