Falcons Fly High, Giants Continue to Stumble Out of the Gate: Super Bowl Odds Update

The Super Bowl odds continue to fluctuate with another week down. You can see just how fickle these odds are, with many teams moving quite substantially after each week.

The big shakeup this week occurred at the top of the NFC, with the Falcons beating the Packers quite handily. Their odds jumped from 12/1 to 7/1, nearly a 5% swing in implied probability, while the Packers fell from 7/1 to 10/1, a 3.5% drop. The Packers, Cowboys, and Seahawks all looked pretty darn crappy this week and all have 1-1 records. The Seahawks will have the toughest test of the front-runners this week, as they are currently +3 in Tennessee.

The Giants, who many had high hopes for, once again disappointed on a primetime stage last night. They began the season at 12/1 and have already dropped back to 30/1. Luckily, nobody in the division is off to a 2-0 start so they could still easily end up with the top spot if they can figure out their offense soon.

In the AFC, the Patriots bounced back nicely after their uncharacteristic week 1 loss to the Chiefs. Though their odds aren’t back to what they were in the preseason, it’s a step in the right direction.

The Broncos made a big push, jumping from 40/1 to 20/1 after stifling Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys. Obviously, they’re going to have a real tough time with both the Chiefs and Raiders in their division. The Broncos will have a chance to strengthen their case as a contender in a couple of weeks when they host Oakland.

If you have any Super Bowl tickets on the Jets, not only should you check into the local loony bin, but you can also tear those bad boys up and burn them for warmth. They’re a casual 9999/1 after just two weeks. That corresponds with a 0.01% implied probability.
