Key Line Movement
Iowa at Purdue, 12:00 PM Eastern: It’s been a rough season for the Hawkeyes, who were ranked #17 in the AP Preseason Poll. A last-second defeat by North Dakota State likely ruined any playoff hopes for Iowa fans, however, there’s still a chance for a bowl appearance.
This week the Hawkeyes travel to West Lafayette to take on Big-10 rival Purdue. At the market-setting Pinnacle sportsbook, Iowa opened as 12.5-point favorites, but have since fallen by a half-point.
The screenshot below illustrates Iowa’s line movement and shifts in betting trends throughout the week.
Since opening, bettors have hammered Purdue, who has consistently received the majority of spread bets and spread dollars even though they’re a double-digit underdog. This heavy action on the Boilermakers has forced oddsmakers to adjust their lines accordingly. Not coincidentally, Purdue moved from +12.5 to +12 after it was announced that their leading rusher, Markell Jones, had been upgraded to probable.
