2017-18 College Football: Week 5 Betting Recap
Saturday night brought us another upset with Troy hanging on to win at LSU 24-21. The Trojans were 10/1 on the moneyline and +20.5 on the spread. A bettor at William Hill actually risked $18,000 on the LSU moneyline, which would have paid out just $1,000.
Road teams have been covering at an incredible rate this season, going 29-24 ATS in Week 5. Visitors are now 191-131 ATS on the season and this week it started Thursday night when Texas beat Iowa State 17-7 on the road as 5-point favorites. BYU wasn’t so lucky on Friday night though, falling 40-24 at Utah State to be the first 0-5 ATS team on the season.
Clemson handled Virginia Tech on the road, and #1 Alabama crushed Ole Miss at home. Penn State’s Saquon Barkley certainly held his ground as Heisman favorite in the Nittany Lions’ blowout win over Indiana.
