Aaron Rodgers Dethrones Tom Brady Atop The MVP Odds List
After one week, Tom Brady has the worst completion percentage of any NFL quarterback…I guess the Julian Edelman injury was a big deal after all!
Although he will surely adapt over the coming weeks, there’s no way you could still have Tom Brady as the MVP favorite after his performance against the Chiefs. Aaron Rodgers didn’t have a particularly excellent game by his standards (311 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), but his victory against the ever-tough Seahawks squad has helped him leapfrog Brady to take over the top spot for MVP at Bovada.
Matt Stafford, who was listed at +5000 at Bovada back in June, has made a huge jump thanks to his four touchdown performance against the Cardinals.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers clearly aren’t buying in to Sam Bradford and Alex Smith’s performances. Both had QB ratings of over 140 in week 1, but history suggests that they won’t be able to keep it up. The only time Smith had a QB rating of over 100 in a season was the year Colin Kaepernick took over his starting job in San Francisco and Bradford has never reached the century mark.
Think rookie running back Kareem Hunt can keep it up? After racking up nearly 250 combined yards, he is available at 33/1. He is also now the favorite to win offensive rookie of the year at +350.
Check back next week to see how the odds change after another game is in the books.
