Big Bets Moving Stanford-Notre Dame Line
Ohio State-Penn State is college football Week 5’s marquee matchup, and professional bettors have been on that game all week.
Stanford-Notre Dame is another key Saturday game — and it, too, has seen considerable line movement since opening.
Notre Dame opened as a 3.5-point favorite and ballooned all the way up to -6 at BookMaker on Friday afternoon.
We saw some buyback on the Cardinal at that number, and it has since settled at -5.5 at BookMaker as of 4:45 p.m. ET Friday.
While this is indicative of two-way action, our proprietary betting tools tell us the bigger bets are on the Irish.
How can we tell? According to The Action Network’s public betting data, just 47% of spread tickets have taken the Fighting Irish.
But those wagers are accounting for 57% of actual dollars bet on this game. This information tells us that the larger wagers are backing the Irish.
Not only are bigger bets taking Notre Dame, but respected bettors are on that side, as well. According to Sports Insights’ Bet Signals — which track line movement caused by professional betting action — sharps steamed Notre Dame at CRIS.
This is important because it reveals that wiseguys are also getting in on the action and found value with Notre Dame, as well.
