Elite Eight Opening Line Report: Part 1
03/23/2012
Thursday’s games are in the books and now the waiting begins for Saturday’s slate of elite eight games. While Florida, Louisville and Ohio State all won comfortably with double digit victories, top-seeded Syracuse struggled to knock off 4th seeded Wisconsin. The Badgers shot 14 of 27 from beyond the arc but were unable to attempt a quality shot on their final possession.
With a trip to the Final Four on the line, we will take a look at the line movement for this week’s NCAAB games in this opening line report.
TEAM | BETTING % | OPEN | CURRENT | NOTES |
(2) Ohio State | 55% | -2.5 | -3 | Despite being the higher seed, Syracuse is actually a 3-point underdog at CRIS — perhaps in part due to the absence of Fab Melo. Early public betting has favored the Buckeyes which has moved the line a half point to 3. |
(1) Syracuse | 45% | 2.5 | 3 | |
(7) Florida | 50% | 0 | -1.5 | Although this game opened as a pick ’em, Florida has moved to a 1-5-point favorite. This is odd because the Gators are actually a lower seed (7) than the Big East champion Cardinals (4). Early betting poured in heavily on Louisville, although the betting percentages have evened out. Most books have seen their lines trend towards UF despite a 50/50 betting percentage which indicates that early sharp money is taking the Gators. |
(4) Louisville | 50% | 0 | 1.5 |
