Falcons Now Favored as Legion of Boom Continues to Fall Apart
Earlier in the week, the Seahawks opened as a three point home favorite against the reigning NFC champion Falcons. Essentially, oddsmakers expected it to be a level playing field if you take home-field advantage into account. It also lined up with the lookahead line set back in the spring by CG Technology.
However, although the Falcons are having a mediocre season, we’ve seen their line move all the way from +3 to -1 at Pinnacle over the week. Why? I reckon it has something to do with the Seahawks’ depleted secondary.
I mean, talk about shit luck. The Seahawks injury page is riddled with defensive stars, most notably their key defensive backs. Though Earl Thomas is still expected to play tonight, one would imagine he’s not 100% considering he’s dealing with hammy issues. Old Ricky Sherman is already done for the year, of course, while Kam Chancellor may have also played his final game in 2017. His neck injury is expected to keep him sidelined until potentially late in the playoffs…if they make it there.
If we look at the line graph, we can see a sharp uptick in money right (represented by the green line) right before Atlanta flipped from +1 to -1.
Seattle can still be found as a favorite at Bovada and some other square books, while the line is a pick ’em at several other books around the market.
