MLB Playoff – Additional Angles
10/06/2010
In MLB
In the past, SportsInsights has written a book review on “Who Will Win the Big Game? A Psychological and Mathematical Method” which has several interesting sports psychology angles that sports investors can use to improve their handicapping. The authors of the book did some MLB Playoff analysis for the New York Times. Below are some highlights.
Some of the angles produced interesting results that bettors — who lean towards underdogs may find useful:
- The article predicts that the Reds, with their offense, and namely, their “consistent” offense (league-leading batting average, in particular) will beat the Phillies. With the Phils at -200 in Game 1, the Reds at +185 look mighty interesting.
- The sports psychology factors also point to Tampa Bay, the New York Yankees, and Atlanta to win their series.
- The article predicts that the Reds will meet the Yankees in the World Series.
