NFL Opening Line Report Week 12
Note that there are several NFL games on Thanksgiving Thursday.
The opening lines are out for this week’s upcoming NFL action, and what does the early betting action say? Please visit our blog and read our series of Sports Marketwatch articles for updated information during the week.
Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots
This game kicks off the Thanksgiving festivities as the first game of the day — and is also capturing the largest number of bets for the upcoming week, by far. Bettors feel like this is an “off line” or “easy game” because the mighty Patriots get the lowly 2-8 Lions. The Patriots are getting 87% of the bets. There appears to be some contrarian value on the Lions.
Team | # Bets | Spread % | Open | Current |
New England Patriots | 11497 | 87% | -7 | -6.5 |
Detroit Lions | 13% | +7 | +6.5 |
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Giants
This game has some interesting opening line activity. The line opened with the Giants being heavily favored, by -9.5 points, at home. Although the Giants are receiving more than two-thirds of the bets, the line got steamed down to Giants -7.5 points. Some books have even ticked down to Giants -7, and it appears that some early sharps were able to get Jax +8.5 to +9.5 points.
Team | # Bets | Spread % | Open | Current |
Jacksonville Jaguars | 1424 | 32% | +9.5 | +7.5 |
New York Giants | 68% | -9.5 | -7.5 |
