In NFL
Every Monday, we take a look at the opening lines for next week’s NFL games:
Team | Betting % | Open | Current | Notes |
Rams | 21% | 14.5 | 15 | The Packers continue to win and are huge favorites against the winless Rams. So far the large spread is not scaring anybody. |
Packers | 79% | -14.5 | -15 | |
Jaguars | 39% | 13 | 12.5 | Another large spread as rookie Blaine Gabbert gets to meet the Steelers defense. Roethlisberger’s impressive Week 5 performance may sway some bettors to lay the points. |
Steelers | 61% | -13 | -12.5 | |
Eagles | 67% | -1.5 | 1 | CRIS opened with the Eagles as slight favorites, but quickly changed course and moved the line down. Despite the Eagles’ troubles, 2 out of 3 bets are taking Philly. |
Redskins | 33% | 1.5 | -1 | |
Panthers | 51% | 6 | 5 | The Panthers continue to lose, but continue to cover. Bettors finally seem to be noticing as the percentages are split early. The Falcons primetime loss will also affect the public’s perception of this game. |
Falcons | 49% | -6 | -5 | |
Colts | 49% | 7 | 7 | The Bengals have a surprising 3-2 record and are a touchdown favorite against the Colts. Curtis Painter seems to have improved, but Indy has still yet to end up with a win. |
Bengals | 51% | -7 | -7 | |
Bills | 71% | 3 (+100) | 3 (+110) | The Giants surprising loss to Seattle has the public back in love with the Bills. The books don’t want to move the line off of 3, so they are simply adjusting the vig. |
Giants | 29% | -3 (-120) | -3 (-130) | |
Texans | 35% | 5.5 | 7 | The Ravens were released at -5.5 but were quickly bet up to -7. The Ravens are coming off of a bye which should help considering they are an older team. |
Ravens | 65% | -5.5 | -7 | |
Browns | 25% | 5.5 | 7 | After an emotional win last week, the Raiders have been bet up to touchdown favorites against the Browns. |
Raiders | 75% | -5.5 | -7 | |
Cowboys | 27% | 7 | 7 | The Patriots offense continues to click and they will likely be a favorite of the betting public. It will be interesting to see if the line moves off of 7. |
Patriots | 73% | -7 | -7 | |
Saints | 79% | -5 | -4 | Some early reverse line movement here as the Bucs will be the only home dog in Week 6. A blowout to the 49ers last week will influence most bettors to bet against Tampa Bay. |
Bucs | 21% | 5 | 4 | |
Dolphins | 37% | 8 | 7.5 | Matt Moore is scheduled to start for the underdog Dolphins. Some people may be jumping off of the Jets hype after they have lost three straight. |
Jets | 63% | -8 | -7.5 | |
49ers | N/A | 6 | 6 | The Lions are opening up as 6-point favorites at home two weeks in a row. (Line from 5Dimes) |
Lions | N/A | -6 | -6 | |
Vikings | N/A | 3.5 | 3.5 | The Vikings were finally able to hold a halftime lead, but now they have to travel to a division rival. (Line from 5Dimes) |
Bears | N/A | -3.5 | -3.5 | |
