NFL Opening Line Report Week 7
The opening lines are out for next weekend’s NFL action, and what does the early betting action say? Please visit our blog and read our series of Sports Marketwatch articles for updated information during the week.
SportsInsights’ NFL Marketwatch has been hot, going 7-0 over the past three weeks.
Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens
This is the heaviest-bet game in early NFL betting action. Baltimore has proven that it is one of this year’s elite NFL teams, losing a tough overtime game to New England last weekend (at New England). Meanwhile, Buffalo is one of only two winless NFL teams this year.
This game is showing indications of early sharp action on Buffalo, with reverse line movement moving the opening line from Buffalo +13.5 down to Buffalo +13 — even with a large majority of bets landing on Baltimore. Keep an eye on this game for a potential contrarian “betting against the Public” and “smart money” play.
Team | # Bets | Spread % | Open | Current |
Buffalo | 6761 | 19% | +13.5 | +13 |
Baltimore | 81% | -13.5 | -13 |

10/19/2010 at 3:32 pmWinless off bye is also a very nice angle which fits Buffalo (and Carolina).

10/19/2010 at 3:38 pmHey Gary, we also like big underdogs coming off a bye. It’ll be interesting to see how this line moves throughout the week.

10/20/2010 at 6:29 pmcareful…. -8 to -14 home favorites before a bye week are 11-4 going back to 2007

10/20/2010 at 6:37 pmThat is a good stat, which is why it’s important to see if the public moves this line back up to 14 or if sharp money holds it steady, or even pushes the line down under 13.

10/23/2010 at 2:42 pmStill holding at 13.
Could be a good game to include in a parlay with Patriots +3, for example.
Later starting time allows hedge opportunity if needed.
All still depends on Ravens/Bills though; let’s see what happens.
