NFL Opening Line Report Week 9
The opening lines are out for next weekend’s NFL action, and what does the early betting action say? Please visit our blog and read our series of Sports Marketwatch articles for updated information during the week.
Cleveland Browns vs. New England Patriots
This game is currently the most lopsided-bet game of the week, with just 14% of the side bets and just 12% of the teasers and parlays taking the Cleveland Browns. The Patriots have shown that they are still a force to be reckoned with — and DO currently hold the best record in the NFL. However, are fans over-valuing the Patriots? (We have gotten some good comments from our blog and article readers. Please let us know your thoughts.)
The line has started to inch up from the opening line of New England -4 to -5.
Team | # Bets | Spread % | Open | Current |
New England Patriots | 1752 | 86% | -4 | -5 |
Cleveland Browns | 14% | +4 | +5 |
Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers
This is currently the heaviest-bet game of the week because it pits the surprisingly bad Cowboys against the Packers — who just shut out one of the NFL’s elite — the NY Jets, by a score of 9-0. For these reasons, SportsInsights’ analysts circled this game for potential contrarian sports investing value. Keep an eye on this game for a “bet against the public” play.
CRIS had an opening line on this game of Dallas +7.5, but the game is now available at +9 at some books.
Team | # Bets | Spread % | Open | Current |
Dallas Cowboys | 2046 | 24% | +7.5 | +8 |
Green Bay Packers | 76% | -7.5 | -8 |

11/07/2010 at 12:23 amBoth of these plays have moneyline value which are worth a value bet.
New England will be asleep at the wheel this week underestimating Cleveland at home. Cleveland is +170 at home on the moneyline and a nice home underdog upset is expected!
Green Bay and Dallas always shed blood in this historic rivalry. Dallas has the talent to be a much better team than their record so expect an upset and outright win. Dallas is +270 on the money line and worth taking.
Better yet, parlay these dogs on the moneyline and get paid 9 to 1 when they both hit.
Enjoy!
