Rodgers a Big MVP Favorite after Last Minute Drive

Aaron Rodgers ripped the hearts out of Cowboys fans in Dallas…shocker! After Dallas went up by a field goal with just 1:13 left, Rodgers marched the Packers down the field and threw the game winning touchdown with just 11 seconds remaining.

For his troubles, he has gained a big edge in the MVP race according to Bovada’s odds.

Though Rodgers trails Tom Brady in several statistical categories, his big drive in Dallas against a formidable opponent has helped improve his implied odds by 15%. Brady had a similar drive against the Texans a few weeks back, but the Pats were huge favorites in that game.

Alex Smith has also taken a huge jump, moving from 16/1 to 6/1—close to a 9% jump in implied odds. The Chiefs’ Super Bowl odds also greatly improved with their latest victory. I guess it just takes a while for people to actually believe in the Chiefs.

The young Carson Wentz is also making moves, as his Eagles have a commanding lead in the NFC East. Wentz has 10 touchdown passes and just three interceptions, which is looking a lot better than the 16/14 ratio from his rookie season. He’ll definitely get consideration if his team can hold on to the division title.

Check back next week to see if anyone can catch up to Rodgers.
