Sunday Sports Marketplace: Focus on NFL & NCAA Hoops

Yesterday’s NFL action saw the SportsInsights NFL Marketwatch selection, Pittsburgh Steelers, cover the spread at home. It was a difficult win, with the Steelers trailing by a wide margin in the first half.  Let’s see what today’s sports marketplace has cooking:

• In the NFL, our analysts are surprised to see the Chicago Bears receiving just 42% of the bets as 10-point home favorites.  The public normally loves favorites — but the public also loves recent performance.  In particular, the public is focusing on Seattle’s big win over the New Orleans Saints (last year’s champs!) last week.  This could be a good “sell at a high” play — and we’ll let our members know if we take “Da Bears.”
• After a heavy day of college basketball action, today’s NCAA hoops action is relatively light.  Still, the Notre Dame-St. John’s game is seeing some lopsided betting activity — and is currently the heaviest-bet game of the day.
