Thursday Night Football Betting Trends: Texans vs. Colts
The Houston Texans opened as 6.5 point favorites at the market-setting Cris sportbook and, according to Sports Insights’ NFL Betting Trends, is currently receiving 83% of all spread bets. Despite this one-sided betting, the line remains at -6.5 at most books.
With Indianapolis receiving such a low percentage of spread wagers at home, this game looks like it will fit our 80/20 betting rule — which has gone 15-6 (71.4%) this season. However, we will wait until closer to kickoff to decide whether this game will fit our betting systems as we continue to accumulate information.
Also worth noting is a recent blog post detailing Dan Orlovsky’s success since being named the starting quarterback for the Colts. Although Indy has won just one of those games straight up, they have gone 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in that time.
A majority of the market-setting books have this game available at -6.5, although there are books offering this game at both sides of that figure with Canbet laying 6 and SIA offering 7. Those discrepancies, particularly when dealing with a key number like 7, exemplify the importance of shopping for the best line.
