Week 5 Monday Night Countdown: Betting Edition
This game could have very well been a Case Keenum vs. Mike Glennon matchup, which is just what everyone across the country wants to see on Monday Night Football. Instead, Sam Bradford is set to return and Mitchell Trubisky will be making his NFL debut.

Given the uncertain quarterback situation, this game was kept off the board for most of the week, opening with Minnesota as a -2 road favorite on Friday. Since then, it has been bet to -3.5.
If we look at our sharp action report, we can see that the Vikings have had multiple steam moves triggered on them. With that being said, taking Minnesota at -2, -2.5, or even -3 is a lot different than taking them at -3.5. With 66% of spread bets and 54% of moneyline bets, it appears that the Vikings are getting a mixture of both sharp and square action.
There’s a good chance that bettors are afraid to bet on the rookie Trubisky during his debut. According to Bet Labs Sports, rookie quarterbacks that make their debut in the middle of the season have not fared well against the spread, though it is not a common occurrence.
The Windy City is expected to get a bit breezy, especially later in the game. Right now, 58% of bettors are taking the over and the total has moved from 40.5 to 41 since opening. This wind may be something you want to factor in, especially if you plan on betting on the second half total.
