Weekend Sports Update
We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Now, we’ll get back to the business of shopping for value in the sports marketplace. Even with the NBA still floundering with their bid to keep the season alive, there is a lot of sports action in college sports — with big rivalries in college football as the season winds down — and college basketball getting revved up.
In college football action, there are several big games, highlighted by Sports Insights’ key indicator of “number of bets.” The heaviest-bet games in college football include:
- Stanford-Notre Dame: Notre Dame is a 7-point underdog as visitors to a potentially “mad” Stanford team that is no longer in the national title hunt.
- Michigan-Ohio State: In this big rivalry, Ohio State is a 7.5 point visiting dog to Michigan, in one of the biggest games of the week.
The most lopsided-bet game in NCAAF is currently the Indiana-Purdue game, with Indiana a 7.5 point home underdog collecting just 17% of the bets.
In the NHL, it’s a little early, but our analysts are studying the betting activity in the NY Islanders-NJ Devils game — which is receiving the heaviest betting action so far in the day. The Islanders are looking like a potential value based on betting percentages.
College basketball betting activity historically trickles in closer to game time, so there is less to report, but there are several double-digit games that Sports Insights’ analysts are keeping a close eye on. In particular, we are currently watching these games: Northeastern-St. Johns, and Western Michigan-Gonzaga.
